THE PROBLEM TO SOLVE
Wikia Qwizards is an original collaborative quiz show that pits Wikians (wikia power users) in a three-way battle of expert level trivia with one twist: everyone asks questions. Round after epic round, contestants fight to out-quiz each other to win the title of Wikia's Ultimate Qwizard.
Qwizard is loved by Wikians. However, it is a show, which means only 3 people can participate each season. How can we allow more fans to test their knowledge on the topic that they like and be a star? I believe mobile is the solution because it allows Wikians and pop culture fans to play this trivia game anytime, anywhere. To communicate this product idea to stakeholders, a prototype of the MVP of Qwizards app is needed.
UNDERSTAND, DIVERGE AND DECIDE
Before skeching out any concept, I dug deep into the current Qwizards show by talking to community associates who had ran Qwizards before, reading related blog posts and reading through power users' personas. Once I got a better understanding of the end users' value and behavior, I sketched out as many solutions as possible. I like to sketch on paper first because it allows me to explore different options quickly and helps me to think through the problem. After sketching out different solutions, I showed them to the development team. We then picked the best solution based on user goals and business goals.
PROTOTYPING
An idea has no value unless it can be communicated. I built a quick prototype using Proto.io to communicate the product idea to the team and stakeholders.
